SRINAGAR, May 18: BJP Kashmir unit today urged Central Government to help in evacuating stranded Kashmiri labourers from several cities of West Bengal, as Mamta Banerjee led Government has failed to tackle the situation.
Party’s Media-Incharge, Manzoor Bhat in a statement said hundreds of Kashmiri labourers along with their families are stranded in West Bengal from past two months but Mamta Government is not responding to their pleas.
“Every day, BJP’s helpline numbers are getting hundreds of distressed calls from the stranded people in West Bengal, but it is unfortunate that local Government is not responding to them,” he said.
Bhat said there is miscommunication between WB administration and Government as they are busy in blaming the Central Government for everything.
“Despite repeated pleas to the WB Government, things have remained unchanged. It speaks failure of Government and she should resign from the post of CM if she cannot handle the situation,” he said.
“Poor Kashmiri labourers are running out of resources and they have been repeatedly denied the movement passes by the concerned authorities,” he stated.
Bhat urged the Central Government to intervene in the matter, so that hundreds of Kashmiris could be evacuated as Corona Virus cases are in a surge in WB.
On behalf of party’s Kashmir unit, he expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister, Amit Shah Union Minister and Dr. Jitendra Singh for the safe evacuation of stranded JK residents from Bangladesh, Iran, and across the several states from country.
“We also hopeful that stranded Kashmiri’s in Oman, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and other countries would be evacuated on a priority basis before Eid-ul-Fitr under Vande Bharat Mission program,” he said.
Bhat said the party unit has already written a letter to Central leadership to help the stranded Kashmiri residents in the Gulf and Middle East countries.
