JAMMU, Dec 2: “BJP should clarify its stand on the issue of one time settlement package for PoK refugees”, said Congress candidate Balwan Singh, adding that Centre does not want to help these distressed people and trying to sabotage their emotions.
While conducting door to door campaign in villages Goh Manhasa, Kukdriyan, Sui, Kalyanpur, Lador and Kana Chack of Marh Constituency, Balwan said that BJP has a history of confusing the issue by taking in different shades at the same time. He said that the package for one time settlement of refugees was prepared during the tenure of Ghulam Nabi Azad but it was delayed due to PDP.
Balwan also lambasted the BJP-led Central Government for trying to sabotage the rehabilitation proposal of the displaced community, submitted by the State Government. He alleged that the BJP Government did not want to help the PoK refugee people by making excuses on the name of West Pakistani refugees as BJP had confused refugees by making the their issue complicated.
“Delaying the rehabilitation proposal of PoK displaced persons because of the issue of West Pakistani refugees is just like denying employment to a new recruit on the plea that he would be allowed to join only after other unemployed are also accommodated,” Singh said.
While making a fervent vote appeal in his favour, Balwan said that Congress-led Government alone which has proved credentials of being pro-development and that it alone can meet the expectations of the people.
He said if voted to power he will leave no stone unturned to provide rights to the refugees and do not let the people of Marh suffer due to underdevelopment. He also promised recruitment rallies for youth, RBA status to IB people.
Others present on the occasion were Sarpanch Jagdish Singh, ex-Sarpanch, Devinder Singh, Charanjeet Singh, Congress leader Lala Devi Dass and many more.
