KHOUR (Jammu), Jan 20: Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, Tara Chand has alleged that BJP miserably failed to handle situation in J&K state during its unholy coalition, promoted misrule and gave worst ever governance.
Addressing a large party convention at border town of Pallawalla in district Jammu today, Tara Chand said,” BJP never cared for Jammu from where they got massive votes and managed 25 Assembly seats during 2014 elections. The people who voted them to power faced frequent power cuts, drinking water crisis, price rise, unemployment problem, rise in border firing and cease fire violations,” Tara Chand maintained.
He further said that Congress implemented the and incorporated 73rd and 74th amendment of the constitution in the State Panchayat laws which made it possible that women got 33 % reservation besides SC/ST as per their ratio of population in every tier of PRIs in the State. He charged the BJP and PDs of weakening Panchayati Raj institutions in the State by diluting its provisions. But former Governor N N Vohra reverted their decision.
He regretted that the border people have not been provided the promised 5 marla plots and demanded that entire population under the direct fire of the Pakistan should be given accommodation in safer zones. He also demanded compensation for the farmers who failed to cultivate their fields under the mines along the LOC in Khour / Akhnoor sector. He highlighted the plight of poor people and the failure to issue ration cards to the people.
Tara Chand aksed the party workers to gear up their activities in view of coming elections in the State and teach BJP a lesson for its betrayal with the people of Jammu region.
Thakur Balwan Singh (Ex-MLA) PCC general secretary while speaking on the occasion questioned the Modi Govt for its failure to deal with Pakistan and contain ceasefire violations. He also charged BJP for its total surrender before the PDP during its unholy coalition. He alleged that 25 BJP ministers and MLAs kept dancing on the tunes of Chief Minister and PDP top leadership for the sake of power.
Senior leaders, Narinder Sharma, Bodh Raj Bhagat president Bhagat Mahasabha and block presidents Khour, Pargwal , Kharah and Samwan also spoke on the occasion.
