VARANASI (UP), Feb 25 : While the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh trivialised crime against women and went to the extent of protecting and defending the offenders, the Bharatiya Janata Party has resolved that during its second term in the government following the ongoing elections, women above the age of 60 years will be provided the provision and facility of free travel in public transport.
Disclosing this here today while speaking to media on the sidelines of election campaign, Union Minister and Senior BJP Central leader Dr Jitendra Singh said that women in the Indian society have always commanded high respect and reverence, and the BJP Government is committed to undo the lapses committed by the Samajwadi Party Government.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, every new scheme rolled out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was meant to benefit those sections of society which had hitherto been neglected by the earlier regimes and this was done without any discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, religion or vote bank. Referring to the Ujjawala Scheme for women, he said that in the second term of the Government, two LPG cylinders free-of-cost will be given to each of the Ujjawala beneficiaries on the festivals of Diwali and Holi.
As far the older citizens, Divyangs and widows are concerned, Dr Jitendra Singh said, their minimum pension was fixed at Rs.1,000 per month and in the second term of the BJP rule in the State, it will be increased to Rs.1,500 per month. For the poor and lower strata of people, food outlets will be set up by the name “Maa Annapurna Canteen”, which would offer meals at the minimum price, he added.
While Parties like Samajwadi Party and the BSP concentrated only for the prosperity of their families, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the BJP Government is known to treat the whole society as its family and carry the benefits of development and growth to the last man in the last queue. He said, people of Uttar Pradesh have very well understood this and are therefore coming out in support of BJP because they don’t want to be left out of the development journey led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
