JAMMU, Apr 11: While speaking to different sections of people during door to door election convassing here today, BJP candidate for Kathua -Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh said, when voted to power, BJP will declare Basohli as “heritage” town.
Earlier, on his arrival at Basohli, Dr Jitendra Singh was given a rousing welcome by local MLA Jagdish Raj Sapolia and a large crowd of local population and BJP activists.
The art and painting of Basohli is hailed and promoted worldwide except in the State of J&K which is a sad irony, said Dr Jitendra Singh and described this as a glaring instance of “cultural” discrimination with Jammu due to Kashmir-centric approach of Government. The monuments and scenic spots of the area richly deserve to be developed as tourist spots, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, if BJP is given representation in the Lok Sabha, it will strive for justice and due attention for Basohli. He once again reiterated the demand for a separate hill district comprising Bani-Basohli-Billawar.
Dr Jitendra Singh regretted poor state of roads and lack of rail connectivity in the area and said these are the issues expected to be taken with the Union Government by the local MP from here but unfortunately this has not happened so far.
Dr Jitendra Singh appealed for a vote for BJP so that when Narendra Modi becomes the PM, these long standing demands of the area can be addressed.
MLA, Jagdish Raj Sapolia, said he is a great admirer of Narendra Modi and has been constantly campaigning for a vote to make Modi the next PM. He appealed the people to vote in favour of Modi in the interest of the country.
Sapolia said, only Modi can rescue India from rampant corruption and scams and added Dr Jitendra Singh is the best candidate that we could have and no other candidate in the fray can match his integrity, honesty, intellect and commitment to society.
District president of the party, Ved Mankotia also joined the campaign.
