BJP snubs opposition, terms its allegations baseless

JAMMU, May 2: Rebutting the opposition criticism, BJP today said that it (Opposition) has been rattled by the growing graph of the party not only in J&K but in entire country which is visible from the unprecedented growth of the party.
Shaken by the massive response of the people to the welfare oriented schemes and development projects undertaken by the BJP led Government at Centre and in the State, the opposition has resorted to its old trick of fabricated and baseless statements to mislead the public, said Brig (retd) Anil Gupta, State spokesperson, while talking to reporters here, today.
Taking a serious note of the opposition’s allegation that BJP has done nothing for the Jammu region and has failed to carry out any development, Brig Gupta said that the Opposition needs to shed its coloured vision and accept the ground realities. Jammu region under the leadership of BJP has undergone a face lift on developmental front, which it had not seen during the last 40 years.
Listing the various achievements sector wise Brig Gupta explained the unparalleled developmental activity that has taken place in Jammu Region. He said under the Health Sector; AIIMS, 3 Medical Colleges, 3 Nursing Colleges, Ayurvedic College, Biotech Park, Model Sub Divisional Hospital Basohli, Aromatic Medicinal Plant Project, 158 PG Seats in GMC Jammu. In Education Sector; IIM, IIT, IIMC, Engineering College Kathua, 3 KVs, Jammu University Campus at Patnitop. In Power sector; 24×7 power supply to industrial estates, 3 Hydroelectric Power Projects, improved power infrastructure under R-APDRP, LED street lights.
The list under the infrastructure sector is unending; Atal Setu, Keediyan, Beri Pattan, Ganpat & Juthana Bridges, four-laning of Jammu-Akhnoor Road, Kathua-Bani- Chattergala- Badherwah-Doda road, new road for Kishtwar via Mantalai, Express Road Corridor Delhi-Amritsar-Katra, 13000 crore worth roads under PMGSY, Nashri tunnel and Tunnel at Chattergala, Modernisation of Jammu Railway Station and Airport, Railway Division at Jammu, goods terminal, Radio station and Passport Extension office at Udhampur, Upgradation of Udhampur Sports Stadium, 150 crore for conservation of holy Devika in Udhampur, helicopter service for Kishtwar. Some long pending issues like compensation to PoJK refugees, identity cards to West Pak refugees, doubling the salary of SPOs, Compensation to border victims at par with LoC, Compensation to deceased martyrs of armed forces, Construction of bunkers, employment under SRO 43, continuation of Yuv Vani Service of Akash Vani Jammu have also been addressed.
He said 40 year old Shahpur Kandi Project, Ravi-Ujh Canal, Ganpat bridge, Medical Colleges, Ayurvedic College, Hydroelectric Power Projects and improvement in power infrastructure were the stalled projects which have been revived/ executed by BJP.
As far as tourism is concerned more than 20 projects are in hand to make Jammu an independent tourist destination, Brig Gupta added.
Those questioning the intent of BJP need to ask the youth who have been benefitted from Mudra Yojna or ask the poor women who have been benefitted from Ujwala Scheme. BJP leader said that it is the public which will decide sincerity of the party and not disgruntled, defeated leaders who have been rejected by the people by huge mandate against them.
BJP State Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan was also present during the press conference.
