JAMMU, Aug 11: Senior Congress leader and former MoS, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma strongly condemned the closure of 1300 Primary Schools, mostly in Jammu region.
In a press statement here the Congress leader said that the previous UPA Government started Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan program to achieve 100 percent literacy rate in India, spent a huge amount to build schools at every kilometer to establish schools to give quality education to the kids in far- flung areas.
After this the literacy ratio got a boost but now the Education Minister of J&K Naeem Akhter seems to be sabotaging the program of Govt of India with the closure of Primary school over which BJP is a mute spectator. The Primary schools closed played a major role in the basic education in the far flung areas.
The SSA is a national program to universalize the Primary education in the whole country and present Central Government is also funding for smooth functioning of the said program to achieve 100 percent literacy rate both among males and females. The female literacy has also increased due to successfully launching of this program in the State as well as in the country, but coalition Government of BJP and PDP is deliberately sabotaging it.
He said the Government of India spends crores of rupees to build infrastructure like school buildings, kitchens, toilets and other teaching aids including teaching staff but all the infrastructure and funds utilized to build this infrastructure are going to be wasted. Dr Sharma sought explanation from BJP leadership and elected MLA’s and Ministers in Government to tell the peoples whether they are with this decision or against and if against, why they are silent over this issue.
