BJP seeks more time on Govt formation

JAMMU, Feb 12: Amidst continuation of political stalemate in Jammu and Kashmir, State BJP president Sat Sharma along with his team called on Governor N N Vohra at the Raj Bhawan, here today and sought more time on Government formation.
During the meeting, which lasted around 20 minutes, the BJP delegation discussed the present political situation with the Governor, who is learnt to have suggested for early formation of a popular Government in the State.
As the Governor suggested for an early end to the ongoing political stalemate, the BJP delegation sought some more time on Government formation without specifying the duration, sources informed.
It may be recalled that during their previous meeting with Vohra on February 2, the BJP leaders had sought a time of 10 days for informing him about the party’s stand on Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, which has been under the Governor’s rule since January 8, following the death of then Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed.
Besides the political situation, the BJP delegation brought to Governor’s notice several important issues of public interest, including disbursement of relief to PoK refugees, construction of shelters for people affected by firing from across the border, macadamisation of roads in Jammu city and conduct of Municipal elections, an official spokesman said.
During the meeting, Sat Sharma was accompanied by State BJP general secretary Pawan Khajuria, Dr. Narinder Singh, Harinder Gupta and chief spokesman Advocate Sunil Sethi.
