BJP, RSS not speaking truth over Kashmir situation: PCC

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Oct 19: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) has said if everything is alright in the abrogation of the provision of special status for the State, why now BJP and even RSS support and air the sentiments for safeguarding the rights of locals to land and jobs.
Reacting to series of statements of the top BJP leadership and the NDA Govt, PCC chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma raised a counter question asking if everything was alright in the abrogation of Article 370, which had been guaranteeing a special status to the State offering certain exclusive rights to the residents of the State over land and jobs, then why the BJP and even RSS has recently joined the concerns of locals for protection of these rights in the new arrangement too, post abrogation.
What else was contained and left in the present form of Article 370, which was used as a political tool post abrogation to contest the polls in Maharashtra and Haryana by ruling BJP. The way it is being used as a political victory by BJP, makes its crystal clear that it was pre-planned going by the urgency and timing chosen to do away with Article 370 by the BJP, by abruptly ending the holy Amarnath Yatra in a disrespectful manner and deceitful modes, which is very unfortunate.
Sharma said that the BJP has failed to explain and justify the disbanding of the oldest Dogra state and converting it into powerless bodies of UTs with non entity form of Government in future with legislature worth the name. The State which had a great and unique history of struggles and prestige of living in peace and harmony amidst contradictions and diversities has been dismembered and reduced to UT, is most unfortunate, he said.
PCC spokesperson said that Centre would not be able to delay for long the restoring full statehood to the J&K from UT and restore all the powers of a full-fledged legislature, besides appropriately safeguarding the constitutional and legal rights of locals to land and jobs, failing which Jammu region too would adopt the possible democratic modes to seek fulfilment of the aspirations of the residents of the state, in near future. The Centre and State Govt should not test patience of the patriotic people of the State and desist from all anti-people moves like heavy taxations in Jammu region besides privatization of power department and neglecting the due and promised overall developments needs and projects and other vital sectors in Jammu and elsewhere in the state.
