SRINAGAR, Oct 24:    Accepting the verdict of people in just concluded  LAHDC elections, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has said that BJP played emotional card and wooed the people of  Leh by promising grant of UT status.
Reacting to the outcome of Hill Council poll results,  PCC  chief GA Mir stated that accepting the verdict of the people is the true sense of democracy, although he said that the BJP wooed the people of  Leh by playing emotional card of granting UT Status to them.  Likewise, BJP did in the last Lok Sabha and Assembly elections to emotionally exploit the people on regional and religious issues.
Congratulating the people  for smooth conduct of  election and appreciating  local Congress leaders  and the entire  Party cadres  in Leh who  put their  efforts to manage the entire election at their own level,  Mir  said that the ruling BJP put all their resources and official machinery at its disposal besides utilizing the  services of their entire National leadership in these local elections  where Congress Party  has remained in the service of people for two consecutive terms,  anti- incumbency  factor was obvious against Congress Party.
Mir further said that the division of votes  with the existence of local forces in the fray also contributed to the victory of  BJP  which mainly concentrated  on the UT grant which the Congress Party could not have done because of its  stated position of maintaining  unity and integrity of the State, he said.
