DC Kargil inaugurates Solar Micro Grid System

KARGIL, Oct 24: For the first time after Independence, a village in Kargil at a height of more than 14,500 feet was electrified and was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Kargil Kacho Hassan Khan.
Lankarchey Brok, the 30 household village, which is at a distance of 35 Km from Kargil Headquarter has been electrified by installing Solar LED street lights by the Social Enterprise Global Himalayan Expedition and sponsored by Welspun Renewable Energy, a national level Renewable Energy Company and coordinated by Local Renewable energy Agency, KREDA.
While speaking, DC said that villages like Itchu, Ralakung etc are in the pipeline for the next year to be electrified by Team GHE.
According to Paras Loomba, Founder of Global Himalayan Expedition, the village is the first in Kargil to be electrified under DC Solar Micro Grid System in which they have used LED Technology powered by solar and batteries, with no signs of inverter for energy conversion. Full system is based on DC Technology.
Later, Anayat Ali, Chairman, J&K Legislative called upon a meeting of KREDA and team of Global Himalayan Expedition during which Haji Anayat urged them to electrify more villages with their solar powered LED Technology.
Ahmad Khan, Project Director KREDA and Paras Loomba Founder of Global Himalayan Expedition briefed the Chairman that some villages in Zanskar and few in Kargil will be electrified next year which have been identified.
Anayat Ali directed the team to adopt Kukshow and Dargho Villages in the next year and extended his full support.
