JAMMU, Aug 23: Former Minister and senior PCC leader Raman Bhalla today said that keeping contentious issues aside, PDP and BJP must focus on development and restoration of peace in the State.
Addressing public meeting at Preet Nagar in Gandhi Nagar constituency here today, Mr Bhalla said the essential purpose of the administration is to provide good governance. Good governance does not need proofs and evidences; it is a self-generating process. The common people must be convinced that somebody takes care of their interests. The Coalition Government will have to come above fear and favour and deal with the issues in accordance with the law of the land, but with determination and norms of justice.
Mr Bhalla has alleged that Govt has failed to ensure basic facilities. The basic requirements for developing the State in all respects are proper infrastructure, industrial push, uninterrupted road, rail, and air connectivity, growth of agricultural production, skilled labour, technological advancement and modern norms of tourism and tourist industry. Above all, the State needs sufficient power which, in turn, means sensible harnessing of our enormous water resource. For balanced growth of industries we must have the pre-requisites of road and rail connectivity, regular supply of raw material, uninterrupted power, assured market and regularization of labour laws, Mr Bhalla maintained.
Hitting out at the ruling PDP-BJP Government in the state, former Minister and accused them of insensitivity in providing basic facilities like drinking water and electricity to the people. He said the horrible power outage and acute drinking water shortage is unprecedented, which speaks of cruelty of the Government towards residents. They seem to have been held to ransom by the insensible, negligent and anti-people Government.
People of Jammu region are being neglected and discriminated despite repeated assurances from Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. He said the slow pace renovation work of Mubarak Mandi complex as Dogra Heritage and the ropeway project linking Mubarak Mandi with Bahu Fort which is still in limbo are examples of BJP’s failure to properly represent people of Jammu. He said that the Tawi Lake Project which was scheduled to be completed in March has been extended for two years.
