JAMMU, Aug 2: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla on Thursday urged upon the Govt to ensure a congenial atmosphere for elections to take place in Jammu and Kashmir and elect a Government of the people in the State.
While interacting with people at Narwal Bala in Gandhinagar today, Bhalla said that the directionless, agenda-less and clueless policy of the BJP-PDP Government has left the people of the State in complete despair. He said both the BJP and the PDP should take the responsibility for the present situation in the state.
“The Governor and Government of India will have to ensure that the security scenario be changed and law and order is maintained so that we can have elections. Congress wants a Government of the people representing the state,” he maintained.
Bhalla said the Congress is extremely concerned and pained by the developments in Jammu and Kashmir. Congress had cautioned PDP-BJP Government to correct its flawed approach and work for rebuilding the trust and restoration of normalcy in the state but they did not mend their ways ,” Bhalla said.
Bhalla maintained that there was an urgent need to win over the minds and hearts of all sections of people in the state but for the simple reason of satisfying their lust for power to form government in Jammu and Kashmir. PDP-BJP made the people of Jammu and Kashmir go through so much misery and torture. The people of state are watching very closely PDP-BJP’s actions and the forthcoming developments in the state and shall never forgive nor forget how their government is responsible for pushing Jammu and Kashmir into complete darkness.
Describing Panchayat and Local Bodies elections a golden opportunity to teach lesson to BJP and PDP, former Minister said that it was a big opportunity for the people of state to teach a lesson to both the parties for taking them for granted. Accusing BJP- PDP for bringing amendment with which the Sarpanchs were to be elected by Panchs, Bhalla said that it was nothing but murder of democracy for their own interest.
