Neither consulted, nor invited

JAMMU, May 15: BJP MLA from Hiranagar Vijay Kumar has shot off a letter to the Union Home Secretary alleging that he was ignored by the administration in consultations on development of Vibrant Village Programme (VVP), flagship programmes of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
In the letter, Kumar mentioned that the district administration of Kathua had finalized development plan of six identified border villages of tehsil Hiranagar without his consultations though he was elected representative of the constituency.
“The exclusion of elected representative from the decision-making process undermines democratic framework and role of Constitutionally recognized public representatives and raises serious concerns regarding arbitrariness and lack of transparency in formulation of development plans,” Kumar said in his letter.
He has sought an appropriate inquiry into the matter.
The BJP MLA said the Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department also visited vibrant villages of district Kathua today along with senior officers but again he was not invited.
