BJP MLA suspended for ‘entire’ session of Assembly

JAMMU :  Bharatiya Janata Party legislator  Jugal Kishore Sharma was today suspended for the entire  session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly following  his exchange of heated words with Minister for Social  Welfare Sakina Ittoo in the House.

Speaker Legislative Assembly Mubarak Gul today suspended  Mr Jugal Kishore for allegedly entering into a verbal confrontation with Ms Ittoo over an issue while he was  about to stage walkout from the House for discrimination  with Jammu region.

The BJP MLA flanked by party legislators Ashok Khajuria, Choudhary Sham and Sukhnandan Choudhary had a tiff with  the members of the House when Mr Jugal Kishore raised the  issue of an equal distribution of funds and development  in Jammu and Kashmir regions.

Earlier, the BJP MLA raised the question in the House  seeking details on completion of construction of fly overs  in both the regions besides other developmental projects.

The government, however, replied that there will be no discrimination assuring that the projects will be taken  up soon and will be completed in a time bound manner.

Unsatisfied with the reply, the BJP MLA entered into  the well of the House amid uproar and said every  time government gives assurances and Jammu has always  been neglected.

Amid noisy scenes, Mr Sharma was about to stage walkout  when he had a verbal argument with Ms Ittoo and other  members of the ruling National Conference.

The Speaker sought members consent to suspend him for  entire session for which the House agreed and he was suspended.

Speaking to media outside the Legislative Assembly, Mr  Jugal Kishore said,”The issues of national interest and  those in the welfare of the Jammu region are not being  allowed to discuss in the House but they can discuss  Pakistan and issues of Afzal Guru.”

The legislators of Jammu based political parties Jammu  and Kashmir National Panthers Party and Jammu State Morcha  also joined the BJP and staged walkout of the Assembly  for a day.
