BJP misleading people over AIIMS: ACC

JAMMU, Aug 11: AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) Chairman and President, JKHCBA Abhinav Sharma said that the BJP instead of bringing an appropriate order for establishing AIIMS in Jammu, is misleading the struggling people of Jammu region through its misinformation campaign and big hoardings that the Narendra Modi led Government at Center has also sanctioned an AIIMS for Jammu.
He said this while addressing a large gathering of people at the Dharna Sthal on the High Court Road, here today.
“There is only one letter that talks about identification of alternate pieces of land at both in Jammu and Srinagar. It nowhere says that an AIIMS will be established in Jammu. It only says that the Government of India will establish AIIMS in Jammu and Kashmir”, Abhinav Sharma said, adding that the people of Jammu region could not be misled.
Senior Advocates and former Bar Association presidents Ved Raj Wazir, BS Slathia and Ashok Vijay Gupta lambasted the biased police and charged them with unleashing a reign of senseless brutalities on the peaceful lawyers and other civil society members during the days of unprecedented bandh and demanded compensation for them.
Speaking on the occasion, former District and Sessions Judge, president JPPF and founder member of the ACC Pavitar Singh said that there is still time for the BJP to rectify its mistake and warned it of the serious consequences in case it failed to assuage the hurt feeling of the people of Jammu region.
Those who sat on chair hunger strike included former presidents, JKHCBA, Jammu, Ved Raj Wazir and AV Gupta, senior advocate PN Goja, Raghuvir Singh, Rupak Ratta, Ravinder Kumar, Umesh Sharma, Pradeep Majhotra, Bindusar Abrol, NP Kotwal, Sunil Sharma and Arvind Bandral.
Among others who addressed the gathering included senior Advocate and prominent literary, SS Lehar, advocate Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed, Advocate Rajesh Thapa, working president JPPF, MS Katoch, Anan Sharma, SoS Chairman Rajiv Chuni, Rajinder Singh, Madan Rangeela, Dheeraj Pargal, Rajkumar, Inderjeet Sharma, MR Bangotra and Parshotam Thapa.
