BJP misleading people: Omar

JAMMU: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today accused BJP of deceiving the people of the State by asking them to vote in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“BJP is deceiving the people of the State as they are asking people to vote for Narendra Modi as if he is contesting the elections here. He is the Prime Minister and he is not contesting to become the Chief Minister of the State,” Omar told an election rally in Bani.

He said that seeking votes in the name of Prime Minister was an act to misguide the people of the state.

Omar also launched an attack on Congress leadership especially its Leader in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad.

“Ghulam Nabi Azad was all praise for me when I was seeking votes for him during parliamentary elections, but now he is dragging the name of my father and grandfather to take political mileage. He is targeting them when they are not around,” he said.

Omar said that dragging the name of his ailing father and deceased grandfather by the Congress leadership was an act of frustration.

He said that even parties like PDP and BJP that are the main opponents of National Conference did not drag the name of his family into the ongoing elections.

While expressing hope that his party would form the next Government in the State, Omar said that BJP and PDP have “read the writing on the wall” of their imminent defeat in the election.

Omar said that his party always worked for the unity of people of all the three regions of the State.

“Be it Hindu, Muslim, Sikh of Christian, NC always worked for their unity and solidarity, even the slogan for their unity was preached by the founder of National Conference Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah,” Omar said. (AGENCIES)
