JAMMU, July 28: With only two days left for 72 hours bandh call given by the AIIMS Coordination Committee (ACC) demanding setting up of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Jammu, top BJP leadership led by Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today rushed to New Delhi to take up the issue with party high command for an early announcement (on the AIIMS).
Apart from Dr Singh, Forests Minister Bali Bhagat, Health Minister Lal Singh, BJP president and Lok Sabha member from Jammu Jugal Kishore Sharma, BJP general secretary Dr Narinder Singh and several other functionaries left for New Delhi this evening for discussions with the Central Ministers and BJP leaders including Union Health Minister JP Nadda tomorrow.
Party sources said the BJP would try to persuade the Central Ministers and party leaders to make an announcement for second AIIMS for Jammu and Kashmir to be set up at Jammu before July 31 when 72 hours bandh will begin to save the party from the embarrassment as it had bagged majority of seats in Jammu region in Parliament and Assembly elections (both Lok Sabha seats and 26 out of 37 Assembly seats).
The BJP Ministers and senior functionaries, who have already discussed the issue with  party national president Amit Shah on the issue, would try to seek an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to apprise him of the problems the BJP was facing due to delay in announcement of the AIIMS for Jammu.
