JAMMU, Feb 4: Hundreds of BJP Mahila Morcha activists under the leadership of its State President Priya Sethi held a protest against price rise, inadequate supply of ration and fixing the number of subsidized gas cylinders here today. They were carrying party flags and placards against these anti-people decisions.
Priya Sethi while addressing the protestors, said that there has been widespread anger and resentment among the people against rising prices of essential items, inadequate supply of atta, rice and sugar in Government depots and capping of subsidized cylinders to just nine. The price rise has become a matter of routine during the Congress rule. Similarly, the Congress takes one decision after the other which directly affects and pose threat to the very survival of a common citizen in the country, she added.
She said that Indian society has the tradition of joint families with even 30 to 40 members and nine LPG cylinders in 12 months can’t suffice such a family. There are even families which require two cylinders in a month and hence the provision of only nine cylinders is not justified. She also criticized the Government for bringing down the scale of ration supply to the people of Jammu.
She declared that the Mahila Morcha will not sit mute on these issues and intensify agitation.
Mahila Morcha senior leader Kamla Gupta said that it is indeed unfortunate that the people have to come on roads for every anti-people decision and there is no one in the Congress-led UPA or NC-Congress coalition in the State to ever think about the people. Anuradha Charak, Anju Dogra, Kamla Gupta, Monika Khosla, Neeru Anand, Parveen Anand, Savita Anand, Bimla Sharma, Bandna Gupta, Sudesh Sharma, Kanta Gupta, Shanti Devi, Vidya Gupta, Saroj Gupta, Jyoti Sharma, Swarn Gupta, Asha Rani Babber were prominent among those who took part in the protest demonstration.
