RAJPURA (SAMBA) Dec 20 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has failed to fulfill the promises made with the border dwellers and their condition has become worse due to hollow policies of the BJP led Government at the Centre.
The Government had promised to provide them five-marla plots at safer places but it has proved rhetoric, as nothing was done for welfare of border dwellers.
This was claimed by Rattan Lal Gupta, provincial president J&K National Conference (NC) while addressing a gathering at Village Bhagato Chak in Rajpura, district Samba today. The meeting was organized by Satpal block president, SC Cell.
The senior NC leader accused the BJP Government of bringing immense miseries to the people residing on border areas by making hollow promises and doing nothing on ground. He asserted that eight years of BJP rule at the Centre has only resulted in destruction of economy, jobs, employment besides highest inflation ever since Independence be it the prices of edible oil, petrol, diesel, cooking gas or other essential items for a human being.
Rattan Lal Gupta questioned the BJP leaders about the promised five Marla plots to the border dwellers which have not yet seen light of the day. Being the ruling party at the Centre and having secured heavy mandate in the elections from Jammu region, he blamed BJP for its total failure to address the genuine problems and concerns of the people.
Rattan Lal Gupta asserted that there is dire need to revamp the power infrastructure in the border belt to provide much needed succour to farming community and general masses as the same is in abysmal condition. He said that the people here mostly belong to farming class and depend wholly on power to satiate their irrigation needs but those sitting at helm have seldom taken care leading to this emergent situation.
He also raised serious concern over deplorable condition of health centre as the same is lacking adequate medical infrastructure and equipments necessary for medical checkup due to which the people have forced to visit Jammu for getting medical treatments.
The senior NC leader criticised the Government at the Centre and in J&K for ignoring the youth of border belt.
