BJP leaders visit Kalakote, Lam, distributed relief

RAJOURI, Sept 19: The BJP leaders distributed relief among the flood and land slide hit people in Sunderbani and Kalakote areas of Rajouri district.
A team of the BJP leaders led by IGP (retd) S S Bijral visited village Treyath where two ladies were killed in landslide recently and whose bodies were recovered yesterday. They participated in their last rites and distributed relief among the affected people.
Mr Bijral said that lot of damage has been caused to the people in the area and their houses have been totally damaged due to landslide.
The BJP established relief camp in the area and also monitored the relief being supplied by the Government, he added.
He said today they visited the Lam village in Nowshera where 66 people of a marriage party were washed away by flash floods and 51 of them were recovered so far.
The two bodies were recovered today, said Mr Bijral. He said the BJP leaders also participated in their cremation.
He said BJP leaders also met the SDMs of Nowshera and Sunderbani. They urged the SDM Nowshera to expedite the payment of ex-gratia of Rs 1.50 lakh to the next kin of the deceased.
The SDM assured them that from tomorrow they will pay the ex-gratia to the family members of deceased people.
