JAMMU, Nov 14: Pointing towards several media reports of huge cash having been deposited into the party accounts of BJP at various places immediately preceding November 8, senior NPP leader Harshdev Singh has sought a probe as to whether the BJP leadership was tipped off prior to demonetization.
Talking to reporters here today, Mr Singh said that suspicions were rife that top BJP leadership and the corporate friends of BJP were sounded in advance and were given sufficient time to convert their currency into gold, dollars and real estate. He said that the allegations of various political and social organizations could not be dismissed lightly as several of them had been supported by corroborating evidence. He said that several account numbers were specifically mentioned which included BJPs bank accounts into which crores of rupees were deposited immediately before the ban on existing currency.
NPP leader  further pointed towards the social media reports which showed several  BJP leaders and their siblings carrying huge bundles of new currency notes despite a limit of Rs 4000 having been fixed for currency exchange. He said that the conflicting and incongruous statements made by top BJP leaders regarding initiation of demonetization exercise and its culmination had further raised doubts of a possible favour having been extended by the helmsmen upon their agents, corporate friends and financers.
Emphasizing the necessity of crackdown upon back money in entirety, Mr Singh said that selective action in this regard violated the national interest besides exposing the party in power. He said that cash hoards are held by all big political parties, big businessmen, bureaucrats, hawala operators and other middlemen and none deserved any favourable disposition or concession.
Commenting upon the raids on the jewellers, Mr Singh called for identical raids on big fish including coalition Ministers who had accumulated huge wealth by dubious means and through transfer industry which flourished by leaps and bounds during the last two years.
