JAMMU, Sept 23: In a whirlwind tour conducted to worst affected flood hit areas of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch, Avinash Khanna, State BJP incharge, reached out to flood affected victims to assuage their feelings, know their needs and have the relief process expedited.
Khanna was accompanied by senior BJP leader SS Bijral, Vibodh Gupta, BJP vice-president, Bharat Bhushan, Choudhary Talib Hussain, former MP and State Ex-Cabinet Minister.
In a meeting at Sunderbani, Avinash Khanna took stock of situation from party functionaries of Sunderbani, Nowshera and Kalakote and asked them to establish personal contact with sufferers in far flung and remote areas to ensure that the deserving got the relief without any discrimination and distribute relief received from BJP Headquarters.
At Siot- Kalakot Crossing he heard the protestors agitating for handing over of triple murder case from to CBI and assured them that the matter would be suitably addressed by him on his return back. He, however, advised them to be peaceful.
At Potha Surankote, Taj Khan, local BJP leader led the team to relief camps where nearly 200 families were accommodated. It was observed that they had the immediate need of 4000 blankets, 100 tents, 400 plastic sheets utensils and medicines.
Khanna also visited relief camp at Gujjar Hostel, Thana Mandi, Budhal and Kotranka where inmates projected demand for medicines, tents and school books.
At Budhal and Kotranka, Khanna heard tales of woes of the flood victims and assured them all possible help.
