BJP leaders confusing people on AIIMS: Cong

JAMMU, June 7: Senior Congress leaders from Jammu region have alleged that BJP leaders are confusing and misleading the people of Jammu region on AIIMS issue.
In a statement issued here today, the Congress leaders described the functioning of the PDP-BJP Government in total disarray, chaos and confused state of mind in respect of establishment of AIIMS in Jammu. Right from the beginning, the leaders said that the main credit for creating confusion goes to Dr Jitendra Singh (Union Minister of State) in PMO, who is misleading the people of Jammu by making different speeches on different occasions.
They described it most unfortunate and expressed their shock and anguish over the silence maintained by top hierarchy of the Government of India viz Prime-Minister, Finance-Minister and the Union Health Minister. The Congress leaders said that both Government of India and the State Government are misleading the people of Jammu and Kashmir over this issue.
The Congress leaders described the statement of Union MoS in PMO, two days ago, a total lie, in which he has stated that the foundation stone of AIIMS in Jammu was laid down by then Union Health Minister Sushma Sawraj during the NDA Government few years ago. It is for the information of people of Jammu that this foundation stone was not laid down for establishment of AIIMS but it was a project sanctioned by Government of India, under the name of Super Specialty Hospital, by upgrading the existing Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu by adding three disciplines namely Cardiology, Nephrology and Neurology with latest equipments. This also included the upgradation of emergency wing of the GMC, Jammu and additional ward for treatment of children in SMGS Hospital, Jammu.
The Congress leaders questioned the BJP leadership in the State regarding their commitment in writing, while signing the Common Minimum Programme of the PDP-BJP alliance, in which BJP has agreed for establishment of AIIMS in Kashmir and not in Jammu. They said it is pertinent to mention here that, perhaps this was also part of the Governor’s address before the commencement of the legislature session. It appears that the BJP have taken the people of Jammu for granted and have totally forgotten its election manifesto. They alleged that BJP’s participation in the Government based on CMP is purely to grab power for the personal interest.
The leaders supported the ongoing struggle for establishment of AIIMS in Jammu and artificial lake over river Tawi, launched by the Co-ordination Committee (CC-AIIMS) functioning under the direction and guidance of High Court Bar Association Jammu, which also includes all the business, transport and social organizations. They appealed the people to understand the selfless and genuine move of the High Court Bar Association, Jammu to safe guard the honour and dignity of the people of Jammu.
The signatory to the statement included Jugal Kishore Sharma- MLC, Janak Raj Gupta, Ex-MP, GS Charak former member CWC, RS Chib former minister, Th Hari Singh former PCC vice president, Arvinder Singh Micky, former Dy Chairman of Legislative Council, Prem Sagar Aziz, Jagdish Sapolia, Ashok Sharma Ex-MLAs, Amolak Singh and Hukam Chand Sharma.
