POONCH, Sept 19: Poonch Unit of BJP today lambasted Rural Development Department for brazen misuse of funds in the construction of Model village at Islamabad which was constructed in 2009 and was inaugurated by Rural Development Minister Ali Mohd Sagar.
Addressing a press conference, BJP President of Poonch unit Sunil Gupta said, the common man is being deprived of the benefits of NREGA scheme and funds are going down the drain in Rural Development Department and Government has turned a mute spectator to it.
BJP leader said that Government claims of massive development in rural areas under NREGA scheme but this NREGA scheme has turned out to be the most corrupt institution in governance.
Gupta said that in district Poonch, the RDD has broken all records as majority of job card holders fail to get work due to massive corruption which is going on in Rural Development Department and no body is looking into the matter.
He said the condition of Model village is pathetic which was constructed in 2009 and the Rs 1.20 crore spent on it proved futile as it was constructed to benefit a ruling leader.
