SRINAGAR, July 25: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president, Srinagar, Ashok Bhat today visited Chattabal Veer area of Srinagar to assess the people’s problems in the area. He also took stock of the various developmental projects being executed by the Union Territory Government. He advised the executing agencies to finish these projects in the prescribed time period for the benefit of the public.
He also met with various public delegations who put before him their day today issues encompassing the people of the area. After hearing to their demands, the BJP leader took these issues with the concerned Government authorities for early resolution. He also visited Jhelum Veer in the area and showed concern on its condition. He said, it is an old heritage of Kashmir. But it is unfortunate that Flood Control Department has failed to maintain it. Since it halts all the solids brought by the river from hundreds of kilometres, it should have been cleaned periodically. But the case is otherwise. It has become a heap of mud and solid waste. He urged the Flood Control Department of the UT to immediately take steps for the cleaning the gauge barricades so that the heritage is preserved and Veer serves the purpose more efficiently for which it has been constructed.
