JAMMU, July 24: A delegation of the BJP Kashmir Displaced District, including its general secretary, H K Razdan and vice presidents, Chetan Wanchoo and Vimal Raina met with Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Arvind Karwani to discuss the pressing concerns of the inmates of Kashmiri migrant camp in Jagti and TRT Nagrota.
The delegation also presented a memorandum outlining the urgent issues that need immediate resolution.
The delegation informed Commissioner about the significant problem of non-functional street lights in the area. This has particularly affected elderly residents who fear walking outside during the evening hours due to potential encounters with insects and snakes. The delegation emphasized the need for swift repairs and restoration of the street lighting to ensure the safety and security of all residents.
It highlighted severe water supply problems. The existing tubewell requires repairs, and the current water systems are non-operational. It stressed the necessity for immediate repairs and maintenance to ensure a reliable and clean water supply for the community.
The deteriorating condition of the internal roads in Jagti was also highlighted and delegation said that these poor road conditions have made daily commutes and transportation difficult for residents. The delegation urged prompt action to repair and maintain these roads to improve mobility and access within the area.
Security concerns were also raised due to recent incidents of theft and it was demanded that CCTV cameras be installed in Jagti township.
The delegation called for the installation of proper dustbins and regular waste collection to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
The need for an updated voter list with contact details, categorized by constituency for Kashmiri Pandits, was reiterated besides stressed on the maintenance of passenger sheds in Jagti.
Arvind Karwani assured the delegation that these issues will be addressed promptly.
