SEDAM, Apr 29: Reiterating that the BJP will not tolerate corrupt leaders anymore, veteran BJP leader L K Advani today said the party has been ‘cleansed’ in Karnataka after the exit of former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.
Speaking at an election rally in this town in Gulbarga district, ahead of May 5 Assembly polls in the state, Mr Advani came down against the Lingayat strongman repeatedly and said stringent would be taken against them.
‘We have denied tickets to those who are facing allegations,’ he said.
Attacking Mr Yeddyurappa without naming him, the BJP leader asked how he (Mr Yeddyurappa) could become a ‘secular’ leader which he had not seen for 40 years of his political life.
‘We do not tolerate corrupt leaders. Now BJP is cleansed of these elements. I appeal the voters to back BJP for better administration,’ he said.
Mr Advani accused Congress-led UPA government of being embroiled in a series of serious scams and its leaders had no right to talk about corruption elsewhere.
‘BJP does not need advise from such elements. It has acted on its own and remains a party that want to root out corruption in the country,’ he said.
The BJP leader also came down heavily against Janata Dal(S) saying that it was nothing but a ‘father-son’ party and workers had no say in its affairs. In contrast the workers in BJP are treated decently and given their due place. (UNI)
