demonstration in front of GGM Science College against traffic chaos in Jammu and torched the effigy of the Government for its failure in finding an everlasting solution to the problem.
The demonstration was led by Ayodhya Gupta, president BJP Talab Tillo Mandal and it was also addressed by district president of the Party Rajesh Gupta.
The irate party activists earlier took out a procession from Canal to GGM Science College. With flags and banners in the hands the protesting BJP activists were shouting slogans against the Government and its wrong policies.
Addressing the demonstrators, Rajesh Gupta said that Government is not paying any attention for construction of three fly overs and road widening project in the city where the people face acute problems due to traffic jams.
He said despite the public outcry no attention has been paid over the widening of roads in Jammu by the successive State Governments and the increasing traffic rush has led to increase in road mishaps and loss of precious lives but those at the helm of affairs are sleeping over the issue.
He demanded construction of flyover from Jewel to Bohri Udaywalla and Shukuntulla to Ambphalla for smoothing of the traffic besides expediting work on fly over at BC road from Bikram Chowk to Satwari.
He also demanded widening of Janipur –Bantalab road from Ambphalla or construction of an alternative road besides immediate start of work on four laning of Akhnoor road.
The BJP leaders accused the Traffic Police of creating a mess on city roads. They said to follow the directives of making a required number of challans each month, the Traffic Police men stop the vehicles on busy roads adding to traffic jams further.
BJP district general secretary Sanjay Baru said that there is no proper policy with Government on widening of city roads.
