LUCKNOW, Nov 10: Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of hatching a conspiracy to win elections, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday averred that the BJP was also trying to weaken democracy in the country by its egoistic monopolistic politics.
Mr Yadav here said that the real face of the ruling BJP government is now coming to the fore. Crime and criminals have increased in BJP rule and they are fearless owing to the protection provided by those in power.
The grievances of innocents, poor people, farmers, youngsters have increased. The Samajwadi Party will campaign with all sections of society to save democracy, he claimed.
The former UP CM alleged that the BJP has left no stone unturned to weaken the constitutional institutions of the country. It does not have any shame. Its conspiracies to bring down the morale of the people are going on. Elections will be fair and free only if there is transparency in them. The BJP has made the elections controversial and untrustworthy by its intrigues. The fight to save democracy will continue only with the awareness and support of the public.
The SP president alleged that the interests of the farmers have been hurt with the three new agricultural laws and they are all angry. They are not being heard anywhere. The paddy of the farmers is being looted. They are not getting the Minimum Support Price (MSP) despite the government claims.
Mr Yadav said that due to the non-payment of sugarcane dues of the farmers and the spike in inflation, the farmers have been hit badly. There is a crisis of fertilizers and seeds. Now, the farmers are being harassed in the name of stubble. It is an injustice to file cases against farmers which is being done in several districts. The BJP does not even talk about doubling their income now, he said.
He alleged that under the Chief Minister’s ‘thoko’ policy, the police are doing it to innocent citizens. The Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the state government on fake encounters several times.
This government has increased inflation. Along with the prices of vegetables, pulses and oil increasing drastically, the electricity and diesel used by the farmer has also been made expensive. Youths are neither getting jobs nor any industry is coming up in the state, he said. (UNI)
