BJP Govt totally failed to control price hike: Bhalla

JAMMU, Apr 25: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today hit out at both Centre and State Governments claiming that price rise had broken the common man’s backbone while those in power were busy talking big.
Addressing a well attended gathering at Uttam Nagar area of Gandhi Nagar constituency, Bhalla said that there was a rise in the price of pulses, petrol-diesel, LPG and other commodities but both the Govts were silent on the issue. “PM is talking big but not concerned about the plight of the common man whose backbone has been broken due to price rise,” he alleged.
Bhalla claimed that the Coalition Government was losing trust of the people. When prices increased during the Congress rule, hue and cry was raised by the BJP, but today the NDA Government is doing nothing to provide succor to the people, he alleged.
The Congress leader slammed the elected representatives for ignoring genuine and basic issues of common man who is moving from pillar to post for the redressal of their genuine grievances. He said that soaring prices of essentials and other items have badly affected the common people in the State. The prices of vegetables, fruits and other food items have reached an unprecedented high, making impossible for the common people to prepare their monthly budget, he added.
Expressing anguish over mounting problems of the common masses, Bhalla said that during last three years PDP-BJP coalition regime has done nothing to solve basic problems of the people and added, “claims of Govt are confined only on papers”.
He said that people of Jammu, who had voted in favour of BJP, now feel cheated and betrayed because BJP ministers have become inaccessible and they are only protecting their petty personal interests at the cost of common masses. Instead of solving people’s problems, leaders of coalition are over-burdened with solving their own internal conflicts and bickering.
