DODA, Nov 26: BJP candidates Col. (retd) Uttam Singh and Rashpal Verma contesting the MLCs election from Jammu region today toured Banihal, Ramban, Ramsoo, Bhaderwah, Sunderbani and Nowshera areas to gather support in their favour from Panchs and Sarpanchs.
Col. Uttam Singh and Rashpal Verma held interactive public meetings at Banihal, Ramban, Ramsoo and Bhaderwah, Sunderbani, Kangri, Siot, Bagnoti, Nowshera and Lambari. The BJP candidates who were accompanied by MLA Nagrota Jugal Kishore Sharma and Ravinder Raina. Col. Uttam Singh apprised Panchs and Sarpanchs about the apathy of NC and Congress towards them and alleged that they have not even been provided with minimum honorarium for survival as well security.
Both Col. Uttam Singh and Rashpal Singh assured the voters that they will fight for these genuine demands if elected.
Rashpal Verma was accompanied by BJP National Executive Member, Dr. Nirmal Singh, party leader Rajiv Charak, district. president Ramban, Ramesh Sharma and others. Addressing a gathering of 14 Sarpanchs and 25 Panchs, he apprised them about their rights and significance of empowerment of Panchayats.
Giving logic the BJP candidate, was quite categorical by stating that if they commit the blunder of voting alliance candidate it will be construed that they do not want to be empowered and also do not want to get their rights but only remain lifeless puppets in the hands of the Government.
Dr. Nirmal Singh while endorsing the view of the candidate appealed to the voters to strengthen the hands of BJP by casting their vote in favour of Mr Verma on December 03. Dr. Singh earlier came heavily on the alliance, which has only breaded corruption and made the public helpless. It is clear from the manner in which Panchayat elections were held without bringing 73rd and 74th Amendments in the Panchayati Raj Act.
Among the Panchs and Sarpanchs who attended the meeting were Ved Parkash, Purshotam Singh, Mool Raj, Uttam Chand, Prem Nath, Ganesh Singh, Omkar Singh, Yog Raj Singh, Ishwar Singh, Ramesh Kumar Bhagmal, Shiv Raj, Choudhary Mohd., Amri Devi, Mohd. Shafi, Raghubir Singh, Youth Distt. President Milan Kumar Langeh, G.S. Katoch, Mangal Singh and others. While at Sunderbani and Nowshera areas Raj Kumar Sharma, Capt. Ramesh Lal, Pritam Sharma, Gian Chand Sharma, Krishan Lal, Sushil Sudan, Ashok Verma, Mulkh Raj, Bodh Raj, Tirth Ram, Kali Dass, Tilak Raj Gupta, Bindu Choudhary and others attended these meeting.
Meanwhile, party president Shamsher Singh Manhas, addressed the meeting of Panchs and Sarpanchs at Khor and Jorian to seek support for party candidates. Mr Manhas appealed the Panchs and Sarpanchs to vote in favour of Col Uttam Singh and Rashpal Verma and teach a lesson to those who have betrayed them after backtracking from their poll promise.
