JAMMU, Feb 22: Former minister and senior National Conference leader, Ajay Sadhotra has said that BJP Government has failed to keep check on the rising prices of petrol, diesel and LPG.
While addressing a public meeting at Makwal in Marh constituency today, NC leader said that BJP has proved insensitive to the core public issues like steep hike in the prices of fuel and other essential commodities. He said with the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, the freight and fare would also increase. It will put adverse impact on the general public.
Sadhotra further said that the kitchen budget of the common man has gone up with this development. On the other hand, Covid-19 has already rendered many people jobless. The unemployment problem has reached the alarming proportions. The life of the poor and middle class people has turned miserable.
The NC leader pointed out that during 2014 elections, the BJP had promised to control inflation if it comes to power. But after coming to power, this party forgot all its promises. Instead of containing inflation, the prices of petrol, diesel, LPG has gone sky high. During opposition BJP used to cry loudly over rising prices but none of its leaders now ever speaks for the sufferings of the general public. With fuel hike farmers will also be badly affected, he maintained.
Sadhotra appealed the Government to take effective steps to control the prices of diesel, petrol and LPG and provide some relief to the general public.
Senior party members, Raghubir Singh, Subhash Sharma, B D Bhagat, KR Bhagat, Lajpat, Baru Ram Bhagat, Pardeep Sharma and others also spoke on the occasion.
