BJP fails to address key concerns of Jammu: Bhalla

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 4: Senior Congress leader and former Minister, Raman Bhalla today  said that Coalition Government has miserably failed to live up to the expectations of the people and there  is a strong resentment among the people against this Government as it has not fulfilled its promises made at the time of Assembly elections.
While  interacting with prominent persons of Digiana area  in Gandhi Nagar constituency today, Bhalla said Jammu people voted overwhelmingly in support of BJP and the people of the region who complain of “neglect” were hopeful that the party would restore their dignity and honour. But after more than three years of this Government, the BJP Ministers have lost the trust of the people. The “Agenda for the Alliance”, released on the very first day of the formation of the PDP-BJP coalition in J&K, did not cover all issues related to Jammu region. People’s disenchantment with the BJP can be gauged from the fact that BJP workers and leaders openly criticised the party’s performance. The people of Jammu province and the Ladakh region felt a surge of immense hope and expected the era of marginalization, discrimination, humiliation to be finally over.
Bhalla said that the concern of people of the State and the entire nation is restoration of peace and normalcy by containing militancy in Kashmir valley and to address the current unrest which is taking toll of people, fresh recruitment and their increasing attacks, targeting security forces is a matter of great concern. He said that merely strongly worded statements would not help to control the situation on the ground. Bhalla said that growing differences and lack of any coordination and common approach to deal with situation, between the two coalition partners leaves no room for this coalition arrangement continue anymore.
Bhalla  lambasted the PDP and BJP for unnecessarily criticizing the opposition mere for sake of criticism and appealed them to rather, play a constructive role for welfare of the people. He also asked the people not to fall prey to nefarious designs of those who are inimical to peace and prosperity of the State. The former minister said due to wrong policies of the coalition dispensation the normal life in entire State is in jeopardy, especially as the Government has lost will to govern the State.
