State Bhartiya Janata Party has urged the state administration to provide reservation for Pahari people who belong to the areas which had been identified and for which Bill had been passed by last Assembly. Such reservation should be both for education as well as appointments to do justice to ignored class .
Stating that providing Reservations to Pahari people is important political issue with Bhartiya Janata Party who had promised to ensure such Reservation during last elections , State Chief Spokesperson of Bhartiya Janata Party Sunil Sethi said the party wants justice to happen to Pahari people who are otherwise not in Position To compete with others owing to lack of resources and living in remote areas with lesser facilities .
Sunil Sethi said that while benefits have been given to Gujjar community etc , and rightly so , the same treatment should not be denied to Paharis . Reservation to thwm will bring equality in society and unprecedented progress and growth in these ignored areas . It will be answer to prayers of Pahari community over the years .
He said that Pahari speaking people are spread over large areas of the state and the areas which will be covered for benefit of reservation have already been identified and there should be no practical problem in issuing of order by State govt . Said reservation can be conveniently be absorbed in reservation being provided to Resident of Backward Areas as both will be place of residence specific reservations . Presently representation of Paharis in state employment is minimal and same is position with regard to higher and technical education to children of community .
Sunil Sethi further noted that with President rule in state and strong central govt of Bhartiya Janata Party in place which is devoted to working for employment of ignored masses , the party will meet expectations of Pahari people for reservation by doing needful and proving itself to be party who live by its commitments to people
