NEW DELHI, Jan 14: Union Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abass Naqvi today assured all possible help in the development of frontier district Kargil while interacting with a delegation from the Union Territory of Ladakh.
A delegation of BJP from UT-Ladakh comprising of State media secretary Mohd Hassan Pasha, Padma Dorjey (nominated councilor LAHDC Kargil) and Dorjey Angchuk BJP State vice president called upon the Minister at New Delhi and presented a memorandum.
The delegation demanded early completion of Kargil Airport Expansion, introduction of Civil Air Service to Kargil (Ladakh) region and early operation of Air Service under UDAN-4, stating that the region remains snow-locked for more than six months in a year due to which region’s connection with the world outside remains suspended.
Another major point was regarding quota for parallel reservation for Scheduled Tribe students belonging to Ladakh in Minority Institutions of the Country like the Jamia Millia Islamia instead of clubbing them under the “Muslim ST” category.
The delegation also demanded land for construction of Raj-Bhawan at Kargil and Administrative Complex at the earliest, construction of Monastery/Temple, Residential Commercial Complex for Buddhist Minority of the Kargil District, creation of Bhoti teacher post in all middle schools and high schools of the 14 Buddhist populated villages.
Mukhtar Abass Naqvi listened patiently to the demands put forth by the visiting delegates and assured that their grievances would be taken up with the concerned departments at the earliest. He said that under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India was committed to the welfare of the Kargil people.
Later, the delegation requested Naqvi to visit Kargil district so that various issues faced by the people of the district at the ground level can be addressed.
