SRINAGAR, Apr 28: Pradesh Congress Committee president G A Mir has expressed serious concern over the delay in releasing the payment to contractors and arrears / GP Fund to the employees as the liabilities have gone higher.
Addressing party workers here Mir said that over Rs 9000 crore liability has been claimed by Finance Minister and Chief Minister yesterday. He said the works allotted to them (contractors) stand completed and now they are going from pillar to post for the payments which has put them to great trouble and same is the case with Govt employees who have applied for release of GP Fund bills.
He said when State Govt is not able to clear the liabilities, what will happen to those works, which are to be initiated as is being claimed by the Govt. He lashed out at PDP- BJP Coalition for misleading the people, inspite of making tall claims about development of J&K State, it must look at their liabilities and State coffers which are lying empty due to the wrong policy of Coalition Govt.
Mir said PDP- BJP coalition is very much confused. On the one hand, they are making tall claims about the development of the State and one the other, they are not able to clear the liabilities. They have pushed the contractors, traders, employees (who are in need of GPF) to the wall and does not care about problems, they are facing. He said traders and small business unit holders, who got badly affected due to September 2014 floods are also suffering badly for want of rehabilitation. The promises made by PDP in Kashmir and BJP in Jammu, have proved hollow. He said my suggestion to this Govt will be to focus on their failure instead of making announcements and tall claims. “How can you think of starting new projects, when you are not able to clear the liabilities ?” Mir asked PDP- BJP coalition.
He cautioned the Govt not to take people’s problems for granted and take immediate measure to solve them without further loss of time. People of the State are mature enough and know the political drama of both the parties. He termed this coalition a bundle of lies and compulsion and said there is trust deficit between them. BJP is deceiving the people in Jammu and PDP is deceiving the people in Kashmir and urged them to set their houses in order and find solution to the problems being faced by the contractors, traders and common people of the State.
Congress chief assured the people that party will certainly make the Coalition Govt answerable to people and it (Govt) will have to answer to the public for its anti- people policies. He said Congress is committed for well being of the people and assured that it will do everything to mitigate the sufferings of every section of the society.
