KATHUA, Feb 12: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma has alleged that BJP deceived people of Jammu region for the lust of power.
Addressing public meetings in Billawar and Hiranagar area, Dr Sharma raised serious concern over the betrayal of BJP with the people of Jammu. He said the PDP-BJP Government failed on all fronts. The public of the entire Jammu region has suffered due to the lack of governance during last 10 months.
The Congress leader accused the BJP of surrendering the interests of the Jammu people, who voted heavily in favour of the party during the last Assembly elections. He said the AIIMS was shifted from Jammu to Kashmir region and it was only due to the efforts put in by the people of Jammu that the Government was pressurized to announce another AIIMS in Jammu. He said that BJP made tall claims and raised hollow slogans but after coming into power, it surrendered itself completely before PDP.
The former Minister alleged that the BJP always exploited the sentiments of people from Jammu province by making false promises particularly during the electioneering but practically they did nothing after coming to power and real face of the party stand exposed. He remarked that both the Central and the State Governments have miserably failed to create new employment opportunities for the unemployed youth.
Mr Sharma fully support the genuine demand of teachers engaged on contractual basis for their regularization as already done by the previous Government in 2010. He said there are thousands of vacancies of the teachers lying vacant in every district of state and students are suffering due to the lack of teaching staff in the Government schools.
He criticized the attitude of the Govt towards the Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers, majority of whom are harassed without any reasons. He rued that the Government failed to identify such ReT teachers who acquired their qualifications from the distance mode/study centres despite of fact that the Government undertook an exercise to verify their documents.
