BJP, Cong, others celebrate R-Day with enthusiasm

JAMMU, Jan 27: Various political parties including BJP, Congress, National Conference and others celebrated 71st Republic Day and hoisted National flag at different places across the region on Sunday.
J&K Unit of Bharatiya Janata Party celebrated the Republic Day with full enthusiasm and distributed sweets among the gathering at party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. The National flag was unfurled by J&K unit president, Ravinder Raina along with former Dy CM Kavinder Gupta, former minister Sat Sharma, senior leader Yudhvir Sethi, Dy Mayor JMC Purnima Sharma, former MLA Neelam Langeh, former MLC Ramesh Arora and other party leaders.
Raina while addressing the gathering congratulated people on the occasion of Republic Day. He said that our Constitution was enacted on this day in 1950 after uncounted sacrifices and contributions for Indian Independence from the likes of Rani Jhansi, Tantya Tope, Mangal Pande, Amar Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Chander Shekhar Azad, Ashfaq Ulla Khan, Mahatma Gandhi, Veer Savarkar, Dr Hedgewar and others.
Senior leaders Kavinder Gupta and Sat Sharma also spoke on the occasion. Prominent among others present included- Parmod Kapahi, Rajiv Charak, Ghulam Ali Khatana, Aseem Gupta, Sanjay Baru, Rajinder Sharma, Arvind Gupta, Praduman Singh, Ajay Pargal, Veenu Khanna, Abhinav Sharma, Lt General (Retd) Rakesh Sharma, Ashwani Chrungoo, Ravi Bakshi, Munish Sharma, S. Varinderjit Singh, Tilak Raj Gupta, Dr Pardeep Mahotra, Vinay Kumar Gupta, Munish Khajuria, Suresh Sharma, Jeet Angral, Rekha Mahajan and others.
In party office, Kachi Chawni also, “Tiranga” was unfurled by Ravinder Raina in presence of Sat Sharma (CA), Rajesh Gupta, Vinay Gupta, Munish Sharma, Subhash Jandyal, Sanjita Dogra, Ayodhya Gupta, T N Bhat, Suneet Raina, Akshay Sharma, Veena Gupta and others.
Tricolour was also unfurled at City Chowk by Ravinder Raina and Rajesh Gupta in presence of Vinay Gupta, Kuldeep Kandhari, Sanjay Gupta, Amit Sharma, Govind Sareen, Manav Gupta and others.
BJP State general secretary (Org) Ashok Kaul hoisted national flag at various places in Kashmir.
Kavinder Gupta hoisted `Tiranaga’ at Gole Market, Gandhi Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Nai Basti, Gorkha Nagar, Sheikh Nagar, Shivaji Chowk, Preet Nagar, Satwari, Bhatindi and other areas.
Sat Sharma hoisted Tiranga in Ward No. 9, 24, 27, 29, 30, 31, 37, 39, 40 and 41. He was accompanied by Sanjay Baru, Parduman Singh, Munish Khajuria, Ayodhya Gupta and JMC Councillors, Keshav Chopra, Ravish Mengi, Karan Sharma, Urvashi and Ravinder (Jyoti).
Republic Day was celebrated at Bishnah by Kisaan Morcha. Pt Narayan Dutt hoisted Tri-colour in presence of Rajinder Singh Langeh, Satish Bharti , Dharminder Kumar, Bishan Choudhary, Nagarmal, Yogesh Sharma, Surjit Singh and others.
Rajesh Gupta, former MLA Jammu East unfurled National flag on the occasion of Republic Day at Purani Mandi, Rajinder Bazaar, Link Road, Pacca Danga, Pir Mitha, Ranbir Market, Veer Marg and other places in Old Jammu city.
Ex-MLC Ramesh Arora hoisted National Flag at Arora Bans Sabha Kachi Chawani where large number of members of Arora Biradari were present. A Bhandara was also organised on the occasion.
Ex-MLC Ch Vikram Randhawa hoisted tri-colour at Narwal Balla, Gorkha Nagar, Rajiv Nagar, Bathindi, Dashmesh Nagar, Kunjwani, Chatha, Satwari and several others places in Gandhinagar area to mark the Republic Day.
Republic day was celebrated in the border district Rajouri with full zeal and enthusiasm. Senior BJP leader and Ex- MLC Vibod Gupta presided over. Cultural programmes were presented to bring the national spirit alive.
While addressing the gathering Gupta said,” On this day we should remember those who sacrificed their lives to make India one of biggest democratic Republic of the world”. The young students should cherish the ideals, values and legacy that the constitution-makers of the nation left behind”, he added.
Former BJP MLA from Udhampur, Pawan Gupta unfurled national flag at Lal Chowk, Gole Market Udhampur in presence of large number of party workers , traders and others. He highlighted the achievements of the Union Govt led by Modi. BJP district president, Puran Singh, MC Udhampur president Dr Yogeshwar Gupta, BDC president Balwan Singh, R K Bucha, Nisha Mahajan and many other were present on the occasion.
BJP Corporator from Ward No. 25 Arun Gupta hoisted tri-colour at Rehari Chowk in presence of party workers and locals of the area. The students from Trikuta Public School and Govt Middle School Sarwal presented cultural programme on the occasion.
BJP Corporator from Ward 18, Dinesh Gupta hoisted tro-colour at Sarwal Chowk, Surinder Sharma Corporator Ward 38 at sector 2 Pamposh Colony, Janipur; BJP leader TN Bhat (president-KDD) at Jagti township, BJP leader Narayan Singh at Ban Talab and Kuldeep Magotra at Patoli Chowk, Jammu.
J&K Unit of Congress Party celebrated 71st Republic Day at party headquarters Shahidi Chowk Jammu in which PCC chief GA Mir hoisted the national flag in presence of senior leaders and large number of Congress workers.
Former Dy Chief Minister Tara Chand, PCC vice president GM Saroori , co-treasurer Rajnish Sharma, former ministers Yogesh Sawhney, Shabir Ahmed Khan, president Mahila Congress Indu Pawar(Ex-MLA), DCC presidents (Jammu Urban) Vikram Malhotra, (Jammu Rural) Hari Singh Chib, Seva Dal chief Rajesh Sadotra, Chairman Intellectual Cell Zahida Khan, Chairman OBC Cell Suresh Dogra, Vice Chairman PCC Minority Cell S. Gurdarshan Singh, Thomas Khokher, Ch Zaffarulla, BB Gupta, Dr RK Khajuria, Madan Lal Malagar, PS Chouhan, Rashpal Singh, Lalita Sharma, Machael Masih, Nasur Masih, Tamana, Ramesh Gupta and others were also present on the occasion.
Congress Seva Dal activists along with others sung the national anthem at the flag hoisting ceremony. Leaders of Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, DCC Jammu (Urban) and other prominent were also present at the function.
Addressing the gathering PCC chief recalled the struggle and sacrifices of crores of countrymen under banner of Indian National Congress during freedom struggle led by great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Maulana Azad, Netaji Subash Chander Bose, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and galaxy of other stalwarts of freedom movement.
He said that freedom was achieved with great sacrifices and sufferings of countless countrymen. The present generations owes a responsibility to the forefathers and to the nation and future generations to safeguard the hard earned freedom and democracy in this country. “We should remain united and maintain the brotherhood and unity in diversity which is the basic strength of our nation,” he added.
Raman Bhalla, former minister and PCC vice president hoisted national flag at Gangyal, Ward No. 56 on the occasion of Republic Day. He was accompanied by former Chairman of JMC, Satish Sharma and many Congress workers, besides people of the area.
Senior Congress leader Maheshwar Singh Manhas unfurled tri-colour at Ploura, near Bread Factory along with locals of the area and BCC members, while another Congress leader Jai Singh hoisted national flag at Shaheed Major Babbar Chowk, Sainik Colony. On this occasion, a bike rally was also taken out in entire Sainik Colony area. Several retired Army officers were also present on the occasion.
PYC president Uday Bhanu Chib and Cong Corporator from Ward No. 60, Rajni Bala jointly hoisted tri-colour in presence of many Congress workers at Ploura today. The gathering sung National anthem and paid respect to the martyrs.
DCC president for Kathua, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma unfurled National flag at DCC office Kathua in presence of office bearers and party workers. Sweets were also distributed on the occasion. Later, Sharma addressed the gathering.
Secretary PCC Shashi Sharma, hoisted national flag at Bishnah in presence of BCC members and other party workers. Sweets were also distributed among the people on the occasion.
J&K National Conference Jammu unit celebrated Republic Day in a function organized at party office Residency Road here. Provincial president, Devender Singh Rana hoisted national flag in presence of other party leaders.
Rana described preamble of constitution as cornerstone of the Indian democracy and urged the people to strive for further strengthening democratic foundations and secular ethos of the country. He said unity in diversity is biggest strength of India, which is needed to be further promoted and sustained by forging amity and harmony between various segments of society.
He said this auspicious occasion reminds us of our crucial responsibilities of preserving the idea of India that stands for unity, amity, equality and social justice. Stressing the need for initiation of genuine political activities in Jammu and Kashmir, Rana sought release of all the detained mainstream leaders.

Senior NC leader Sunil Verma hoisted tricolor at NC office, Udhampur in presence of District and Block committee members.
Meanwhile, NCP J&K unit senior vice president Kamal Gupta unfurled national flag in presence of party workers at party office; Janata Dal Secular state unit president, Mast Nath Yogi at Raghunath Bazar Jammu and party senior vice president Ram Rattan at Nagrota while NDPI president, Rajesh Gupta at party office, Jammu.
