BJP, Cong, others celebrate Independence Day

JAMMU, Aug 16: Various political parties celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and National fervour across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
Leaders and activists of Bharatiya Janata Party, J&K, including MPs and former Legislators, celebrated 75th Independence Day by hoisting National Flag amidst Nationalist sloganeering and distribution of sweets with enthusiasm during the celebration functions, organized across the length and breadth of Jammu and Kashmir.
The BJP units celebrated the Independence Day with fervour by hoisting Tricolour at various prominent places and distributed sweets in the Jammu City. Main celebration in this connection was held at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, while the senior leaders led by BJP J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina along with others also hoisted the “Tiranga” at City Chowk and Pt Prem Nath Dogra Bhawan, Kachi Chawni BJP office, along with every Mohalla, Chowk, Ward, Panchayat and other prominent places of the region.
Ravinder Raina was accompanied by former BJP presidents Shamsher Singh Manhas (MP Rajya Sabha), Jugal Kishore Sharma (MP Lok Sabha), Sat Sharma & former president Ashok Khajuria, former DyCM Kavinder Gupta, party State vice-presidents Yudhvir Sethi, State general secretaries Sunil Sharma, Vibodh Gupta and Dr DK Manyal, BJP headquarters Incharge Priya Sethi, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi (DDC Chairman), Arvind Gupta, Veenu Khanna, Rekha Mahajan, Parmod Kapahi, Sanjay Baru, Munish Sharma, Rajeev Charak, Tilak Raj Gupta, Dr Pardeep Mahotra, Jugal Kishore Gupta, Jaidev Rajwal and others accompanied the State president during flag hoisting ceremonies.
J&K BJP general secretary (Org) Ashok Kaul, along with other senior leaders from Kashmir region, led the flag hoisting celebrations by the party activists in Kashmir.
Sat Sharma hoisted “Tiranga” at Kachi Chawni, Rehari, Wards 13, 27, 28, 30, 31, 32, 40, Bharat Nagar, Colonel Colony, Top Sherkhania of Jammu West Assembly Constituency.
Former minister Bali Bhagat hoisted National flag at Muthi Morh Chowk near Jammu Police Station today. He greeted the people on this occasion.
Former minister and Ex-MLA Marh Ch Sukhnandan Kumar unfurled National flag at Chik-Neck Border Post Gole Patan close to Indo-Pak border. BSF Commandant Dilbag Singh and a large number of other BSF men of 12 Bn and locals of the area were present on the occasion.
Yudhvir Sethi hoisted “Tiranga” at City Chowk, Baria Mohalla, Shalamar, Paharia Mohalla, JP Chowk, Peer Kho Akhara, Bus Stand, Raj Tilak Road, Kali Janni, Pacca Danga, Circular Road, Purani Mandi, Gummat Bazar and Vivekananad Chowk.
Vibodh Gupta hoisted “Tiranga” at Shaheed Veer Singh Chowk (Khandli Chowk) Rajouri named after recent terrorist incident in Rajouri. A large number of locals of the area and BJP office bearers and activists were present on the occasion.
Dr DK Manyal hoisted “Tiranga” at party headquarter, Greater Kailash, Diani village Samba and party office Samba. BJP State Executive Member, Ravi Bakshi hoisted National flag in presence of large number of party workers and local Ex-servicemen in Sainik Colony, Jammu.
Priya Sethi hoisted “Tiranga” at Upper & Lower Purani Mandi, DPS and Pacca Danga.
Vikram Randhawa (former MLC) hoisted “Tiranga” at Bathindi, Narwal, Gorkha Nagar, Channi Himmat, Rajiv Nagar, Dashmesh Nagar, Raipur Satwari, Chattha Langar and Kunjawani.
Pawan Gupta, former minister and MLA Udhampur, unfurled National Flag at Lal Chowk, Udhampur town in presence of party leaders and workers besides prominent citizens of the town. He also addressed the large gathering. Prominent among those present included MCU, president Dr Yogeshwar Gupta, Balwan Singh (RDC-president) and DDC Puran Chand.
Pawan Khajuria hoisted “Tiranga” at Sailan Talaab and BJP office Udhampur town in presence of party functionaries.
Former MLA Ramban, Neelam Langeh hoisted tri-colour at BJP office in Ramban town in presence of large number of party workers and district office bearers.
Aseem Gupta, party vice president, hoisted National flag in Ward No. 20 Jammu in presence of local Councilor, Rahul Kumar. Later, they both addressed the public gathering. Sumit Sharma, senior BJP leader and party’s co-convenor, Sanskritik Cell hoisted tri-colour in Ward No. 58, Industrial area
Meanwhile, BJP organized a musical patriotic evening “Ek Shaam Shahidon Ke Naam” in the evening of 75th Independence Day and commemorated it as “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” as a mark of tribute to the supreme sacrifices of great patriots, who laid down their lives for India’s freedom at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Party leaders lighted flame & paid floral tributes at the portraits of the martyrs. Later, a musical team led by Deepak & Nandini recited patriotic songs in memory of these martyrs.
BJP State president Ravinder Raina, while remembering martyrs, said that the pain and love for the motherland made patriots to leave the luxuries of life and jump into freedom struggle. They made their supreme sacrifices so that the future generations could live in an independent country.
BJP MP Jammu-Poonch Parliament constituency Jugal Kishore Sharma, while throwing light on the freedom struggle movement remembered the sacrifices of the revolutionaries who made their supreme sacrifices in the service of the motherland.
Ramesh Chander Mahajan, State Executive Member of BJP Health and Medical Cell of J&K UT unfurled National Flag during function at Jagti township along with BJP Mandal Booth’s team activists.
BJP State Executive Member, Raman Suri along with prominent citizens hoisted tricolor at Residency Road, Lakhdata Bazaar, Kanak Mandi and Miran sahib. Nitish Mahajan, State BJP Executive member unfurled National flag at Trikuta Nagar, Marble Market and Preet Nagar.
BJP District Unit RS Pura, spokesperson and Incharge Rashtriya Sampark Abhiyan, Rakesh Pant hoisted National Flag at his native village Salehar to mark the Independence Day. He also addressed the gathering and referred to the importance of the day.
BJP OBC Morcha organized a function in connection with Independence Day in Jammu West where former minister Sat Sharma hoisted national flag in present of senior leaders Yudhvir Sethi, Munish Sharma, Braham Jyot Sati and others.
J&K Congress Unit president GA Mir, along with PCC, DCC, BCC members and heads of some Frontal organizations celebrated 75th Independence day in Srinagar party office. Mir hoisted National flag In Srinagar office of the party and also at Dooru in Anantnag. He greeted people on the occasion.
Prominent among those who attended functions in Srinagar included former minister Khemlata Wakhloo, S S Channi, Abdul Ghani Khan, Shameema Iqbal, Abid Kashmiri, M A Khandey, Shameema Raina, Aamir Rasool, Ayoub Mattoo and others.
Former minister and vice president JKPCC, Mula Ram along with Hari Singh Chib president DCC Jammu Rural, Uday Bhanu Chib president Youth Congress J&K, Rajni Bala Corporator Ward No 60 and Corporator Rajinder Singh hoisted National Flag in Raipur- Domana Constituency with great enthusiasm.
Mula Ram and Chib also addressed the gathering and greeted people on the occasion. Uday Chib highlighted importance of the day and threw light on the role played by the nationalist leadership to free the nation from the clutches of Britishers.
At Congress Party headquarters, Jammu, National flag was hoisted by former minister and DCC president Jammu Urban Yogesh Sawhney along with party vice president and former minister Raman Bhalla, in presence of various senior party leaders. National anthem was sung and sweets distributed to mark the occasion.
Raman Bhalla, Yogesh Sawhney besides others also addressed the gathering and threw light on the importance of the day. Both, Bhalla and Sawhney also hoisted tricolor at difference places in Jammu East, West and in Gandhinagar constituencies.
Suresh Dogra, Chairman OBC Cell of JKPCC along with members of the unit and party workers hoisted National flag to mark Independence Day at India Chowk Jammu. Shalamar Road vendors and local traders had organized the function in this connection. Vice Chairman Parshotam Mehra, Aditya Dogra, Ravi Mehra, Mehul Puri, Varun Dogra and others were also present.
Shashi Sharma, PCC Secretary and vice chairman, Kissan Cell of the party hoisted tricolor at Bishnah town along with DCC/BCC members besides other party workers and locals of the area. Prominent among those present included M R Puri, Vijay Tagotra, Rajesh Kumar Bhau, Moolraj Sharma, Satpal, Balbir Kaith and others.
Senior Congress leader Maheshwar Singh (Adv), hoisted National flag at Nardni in Raipur-Domana constituency in presence of prominent people of the area and party workers to mark Independence Day. They also paid tributes to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom of the country. Prominent among those present on the occasion included- Maj ( Retd) Kamal Singh Jamwal, Surjit Singh, Pawan Kumar, K L Sharma,, Nidhan Singh, AD Singh, PK Bhagat and Bodh Raj.
Congress District general secretary and president Beopar Mandal Gurmeet Singh along with Ward president Hardavinder Singh unfurled tricolor at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu in presence or large number of party activists.
Corporator, Gourab Chopra today unfurled National flag along with party workers and locals of the area at several places in Jammu West and greeted the people .
Congress leaders Mohd Asif Naqeeb (Ex-gen secy Distt unit)and Randeep Bhandari (DCC Ex-gen secy) unfurled national flag in Kishtwar to mark 75th Independence Day.
National Conference, Provincial president Devinder Singh Rana unfurled National flag at party office Jammu in presence of party senior leaders, Ajay Sadhotra, S S Slathia, Rattan Lal Gupta, Bashir Ahmed, Rampal, Jugal Mahajan, B M Sharma, Sheikh Abdul Rehman, Dr Chaman Lal , Bimla Luthra, Vijay Laxmi Dutta, Vjay Lochan and others. Ajay Sadhotra also unfurled tri-color at Sangrampur Chowk in Marh. NC Migrant, Cell led by MK Yogi celebrated I-Day at Jagti in Nagrotra and unfurled National flag.
Apni Party organized function in connection with Ind-Day at party office Gandhinagar where party vice president Ch Zulfikar Ali hoisted national flag in presence of party senior leaders- S Manjit Singh -provincial president, Faqir Nath, Dr Rohit Gupta, Ajaz Kazmi, BR Bhagat, ML Chalotra, Raqeeq Khan and others. Zulifkar also addressed the gathering and referred to the importance of the day. Apni Party district Udhampur Unit led by Hans Raj Dogra unfurled National flag at Domail Chowk in presence of party workers. In Kishtwar, Apni Party leaders Mohinder Singh Parihar and Syed Asgar Ali hoisted National flag.
JKNPP president Prof Bhim Singh hoisted tri-colour at party office Gandhinagar in presence of senior leaders P K Ganjoo, Anita Thakur, Bansi Lal Sharma , Neeraj Dewan and Gagan Partap besides others. Senior NPP leader Yashpal Kundal hoisted National flag at in Samba in presence of large number of party workers to mark the occasion.
Shiv Sena, Bal Thakrey J&K unit led by Manish Sawhney unfurled National flag at Party office Trikuta Complex, Bus Stand, Jammu and also extended greetings to the people.
Aam Aadmi Party Jammu unit led by National Council member S Deep Singh hoisted National flag at 48-C/C Green Belt Park, party regional office, Gandhinagar.
Lok Jan Shakti Party, led by Rafiq Malik hoisted national flag at party office here and also distributed ration among the poor to mark Independence Day.
All Jammu Kashmir Panchayat Conference celebrated Ind-day at its office in Jammu. A large number of BDC members, Sarpanches and Panches attended the function. AJKPC president Anil Sharma hoisted national Flag on the occasion.
DDC Member from Suchetgarh, TS Tony along with BDC Chairman Tarsem Lal hoisted National flag during Ind-Day function at Govt School, Chakroi. BDC member Palangar Parveen Akhtar unfurled tri-colour at Govt High School Palangar in Rajouri while BDC chairman Marh Surinder Kumar hoisted National Flag in Govt Higher Secondary School, Marh.
National Conference Youth leader Imran Sheikh celebrated the Independence Day at Gujjar Nagar by unfurling the National Flag in the presence of large number of people and party activists.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that this day reminds us the services and sacrifices of freedom fighters, who laid down their lives to achieve freedom from foreign rule. He also paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the nation who laid down their lives to safeguard the integrity and sovereignty of their motherland. He saluted the role of all security forces in protecting the nation.
Imran Sheikh reiterated the National Conference’s commitment to strengthen bonds of communal harmony and brotherhood. He also appealed to people to rise against the divisive politics, which is responsible for the chaos and disharmony.
SHO Peer Mitha Ajaz, Gujjar Nagar PP Incharge Ayub, Mehboob Ali, Ajay Kumar Goswami, Rohit Kumar, Gaurav Sharma and Sanjeev Mehra were among others present on the occasion.
Ex-Sarpanch, Bishen Singh Langeh along with Vishavjeet Singh Manhas, Onkar Singh, Naib Sarpanch Rattan Singh Manhas and many others hoisted National Flag at Thakur Market Malpur, Sua Number 1, Jammu.
