BJP committed to one time settlement of PoK refugees: Singh

KATHUA, Apr 14: Senior leader of BJP S Varinder Jeet Singh while complimenting party’s Prime Ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi  for assuring one time settlement of PoK refugees during his election rally at Hiranagar last month and reiteration of the same in party’s poll manifesto later, today appealed the people to vote for BJP and give Mr Modi a decisive mandate to settle the problems faced by West Pak, PoK refugees and other people of the State.
Talking to media persons here, he made an appeal to people asking them to bring Mr Modi and save nation. He said that both Congress and National Conference (NC) are anti-Sikh parties. On January 13, 1989 there were anti Sikh riots in which 16 Sikhs were martyred. Thousands of them were injured. Property of crores was damaged. At that time NC was ruling the State, he added.  He said the Government framed Ansari Commission to probe the same. The Commission submitted its report to Cabinet few years back stating that NC Government was unable to stop riots and has also failed in giving punishments to the culprits. But till date the culprits were not punished and the report was not made public by the Government, he added.
Singh said no one can forget operation Blue Star and the massacre of Sikh in 1984. Whole of India has Minority Commission but except J&K because NC-Congress know that formation of Minority Commission will benefit Sikhs. Elections of Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee which have not been held for the past 10 years, he added.
He said Punjabi has not been recognized as a subject in the State and no member of Sikh community has so far been elevated as judge of State High Court. He counted various revolutionary steps taken by the Vajpayee led Government at Centre and the then BJP Government of Delhi led by Madan Lal Khurana for welfare of Sikhs.
Mr Singh said the team of his organization visited Sikh majority areas of Kathua, Reasi, Pouni Pharak, Udhampur and Batote and came to know that Sikhs are very excited to cast their vote and make Narender Modi Prime Minister of the country.
