JAMMU, Aug 29: Former minister and senior Congress leader, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today said that BJP should clarify its stand on Article 35-A and avoid to exploit people on sensitive issues.
In a press statement issued here today, Dr Sharma said the Bharatia Janata Party should clarify his stand on Art 35A issue where they are in favour of Art 35-A or oppose Art 35-A and support its abrogation. He said the silence of BJP and its leadership has created an atmosphere of confusion and chaos in the mind of the people of the State. Some vested interests people are trying to divide the people of the State on regional and religious lines to achieve their hidden agenda.
Dr Sharma further said that the BJP is now in the Government both in State and the Centre and it duty bound clear its stand to the public not only on this important issue, but also each and every issue of public importance. He said that the criminal silence is question mark on the role of BJP its leadership.
The Congress leader alleged that BJP have developed a habit of befooling the people of the nation by raising and debating such issues without any logic conclusion. He further sought explanation from BJP about the stand taken by the Mufti Govt in a case of High Court judgment in connection with ban on beef through a SLP filed before Supreme Court. Sharma said that the BJP and his leadership have habit of talking much, but doing nothing to fulfill their commitment made before public during election.
Launching a scathing attack on BJP-PDP coalition for prevailing mess and uncertainty in state, PCC leader regretted that during the last three years, the present regime has spoiled the peaceful atmosphere which was achieved by the previous Government. He said that the failure of the Govt exposed the real face of BJP and its leadership before the public of the region. He alleged that BJP has completely compromised the interests of Jammu people.
