JAMMU, July 3: BJP committed great betrayal with the trust of people of Jammu as it failed to bargain for a rotational Chief Minister after having secured huge mandate from Jammu in 2014 elections.
PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma in a press statement here said that BJP even failed to secure a rotational Chief Minister with 25 MLAs as well as support of another independent, which was great betrayal of the mandate of people, of Jammu region.
On the contrary, with less number of seats in 2002 the Congress created a precedent of equality and bargained for three years term for Chief Minister, as a result Ghulam Nabi Azad become the first Chief Minister from Jammu although on his own merit being the tallest leader.
Again in 2008, with more less number of seats, Congress entered into power sharing formula on equal basis in cabinet and all other matters, which shows that Congress always respects the mandate of the people.
He said that Congress has always taken care of the sentiments, aspirations and rights of all three regions but we in Congress don’t talk in terms of religion or seek votes by regional or religious polarization. Likewise, the future mandate of the people would decide the course of the party after the forthcoming elections to the state assembly and appealed to the people to reject the forces of exploitation, falsehood and betrayals, who seek mandate on the emotional issues and divisive politics, he added.
