JAMMU, Mar 10: PCC general secretary, Vikram Malhotra today deplored the BJP for befooling the people of Jammu region to secure their votes during recently held Assembly elections.
Speaking to a large gathering at Purani Mandi Chowk here after protest today, Mr Malhotra raised serious doubts over the plot of newly formed PDP-BJP alliance in the State, which is faced with a crisis like situation in just a week of its coming into being.
Amid anti-Government sloganeering Mr Malhotra said that the release of Hurriyat hardliner, Masarat Alam, who is alleged to be mastermind of 2010 violent episode in the Kashmir valley that led to unfortunate deaths of more than 120 innocent people, exhibits the basic agenda of the PDP-BJP alliance Government in the State.
He criticized the statement of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, which he made in the Parliament yesterday stating that he (PM) didn’t know about the decision of Jammu & Kashmir Government for release of the Kashmir based separatist leader, who was detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and was in the jail since last four years.
“This statement of the Prime Minister further raises doubts that the person of his stature, under whose disposal remains all intelligence and secret security agencies, doesn’t know what is happening in the violence prone region of Jammu & Kashmir, where his party (BJP) is also part of the government,” Mr Malhotra asserted.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party has befooled the people by compromising on the issues, which it banked upon during Assembly elections for mere securing votes,” he alleged and added, “Though it (BJP) succeeded in winning the mandate of people in Jammu region, yet the party is now answerable to the masses for duping them of their votes.”
“Both PDP and BJP have deceived people on different perspectives and ideologies,” he said, adding, “By forming an alliance, they have compromised with the basic agenda fostered by them before Parliamentary as well as Assembly elections in Jammu & Kashmir,” Malhotra added.
