BISS recalls selfless services of Upinder Bhat to nation

JAMMU, Oct 13: Rich tributes were paid to Upinder Krishen Bhat,a prominent social activist, organizational secretary, Bhartiya Ithihas Sankalan Yojana, J&K Chapter and a Swayam Sewak here today.
The programme was organized by Bhartiya Ithihas Sankalayan Samiti, (BISS) J&K Chapter. All the speakers who spoke on the occasion expressed great sorrow over the untimely demise of the Upinder Krishen Bhat. While paying tributes to Bhat, speakers remembered his services to the nation and society. He was associated with various social and religious institutions from his childhood and was instrumental in founding many organizations that later emerged as the anchors of social and cultural cohesion, they added.
They said his services during the period of peak terrorism in Kashmir Valley to uphold the nationalist cause were exemplary. During the Shardanjali Sabha a resolution was passed to work for instituting an award in the name of Upinder Krishen Bhat to commemorate his self less service to the nation.
They said he was imprisoned for 19 months during the Emergency and was shifted to various prisons. He worked closely with many stalwarts of Bhartiya Jan Sangh and was a staunch RSS Swayamsewak .He was an embodiment of an ideal Swayamsewak who worked tirelessly for the masses at the grass root level.
He was associated with various organizations that included Arya Samaj, Rainawari KP Action Committee and many more. Prominent citizens and leaders from various organizations who paid their rich tributes included Ashok Braru, A.K.Raina, Dr.Mahesh Kaul, Neelam Sarin, Prashant, Arun Chuadhary, G.L Raina (MLC), Dr.Ranjodh Jamwal, Shanta, Advocate Sumer Khajuria, Mangal Dass, Brigadier Suchet Singh (Prant Sangh Chalak), advocate C.M Kaul, Bharat Bhushan Bhat, B.L Jalali, President, RKPAC, Rajesh Gupta, Ex MLA, Dinesh Khanna, Om, Sanjeev Gupta, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo.
Proceeding of the programme were conducted by a prominent social activist Tej Krishen Kaul Jigyasu and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.Ravi Kumar,general secretary,Bhartiya Ithihas Sankalayan Samiti (J&K Chapter).
Meanwhile Sharika Peeth Sanstha, Subash Nagar also paid rich tributes to Upinder Krishen Bhat in a meeting today which was chaired by its president, M K Jalali. The meeting described him a staunch social activist and a Swayamsevak who worked for national cause till his last breath.
