JAMMU, June 15: The birth anniversary of Advocate Babu Milkhi Ram (ex-MLA) was celebrated by Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Bahu Fort, Jammu in the premises of Gurudwara Shri Guru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj, Bahu Fort, Jammu.
A large number of people participated in the celebration and paid rich tributes to Babu Milkhi Ram. The speakers said that Babu Milkhi Ram will be remembered as great social reformer, true and honest politician and a dedicated personality as he worked tirelessly throughout his life sacrificing all comforts.
Speaking on this occasion, Sham Lal Basson said that Milkhi Ram was rightly called as Ambedkar of Jammu Kashmir as he never compromised with his principles throughout his life and started ‘Depressed Classes Movement’ in Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof G L Thapa cited many examples of Babu ji because father of Prof GL Thapa was close associate of Babu ji. He said that Marh constituency was ‘karambhumi’ of Babu Milkhi Ram and he always stood against atrocities on downtrodden people.
B D Thapa, a renowned singer sang ‘krantikari’ songs while paying tributes to Babu Milkhi Ram while Madam Sunita Bangotra spoke in detail on the life of Babu ji.
Others who paid rich tributes to the ex-MLA included C L Banal, Prof C L Shivgotra, Col Mohan Lal, Des Raj, Om Parkash, Sham Lal Kalsi, Dr Vijay Shivgotra, Vikas Kalsi, Rajesh Kumar, Om Parkash Badgal, Vicky, Ishar Dass, Rattan Lal and Rattan Lal Bangotra.
