JAMMU, Oct 2: The 152nd birth anniversary of Lala Hans Raj Mahajan was celebrated by Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha in a function held here today.
The main function in this connection was held at Lala Hans Raj Park, Sunder Singh Gurdwara Road, Jammu. It started with the Havan Pooja in which Vedic mantras were recited by the religious scholars. A large number of members of the Sabha and Mahajan community attended the programme.
Besides Sabha members, heads of various social organizations of Jammu like- Gulchain Singh Charak from Dogra Sadar Sabha, Ved Parkash Sharma from Brahman Sabha, Narayan Singh from Rajput Sabha and Murari Lal from Kashyap Rajput Sabha graced the occasion. In their brief speeches, they all recalled the selfless services rendered by Sher-e-Duggar, Lala Hans Raj Mahajan to the society.
After the culmination of `Havan- Pooja’, the statue of Lala Hasn Raj Mahajan was garlanded at the same Park by the presidents of all the Biradari Sabhas present on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Ramesh Chander Gupta, president of the Sabha highlighted various social reforms made by Lala Hans Raj Mahajan ( founder), who pioneered the formation of various social organizations of the non-political secular status to bring much needed social reforms and unity among the members of various social organizations.
The other prominent speakers included Yash Pal Gupta, Yugal Mahajan, Ravi Rohmetra, Rattan Lal Gupta and Mrs Nirmal Mahajan. They resolved to fight against social evils.
Prominent members present on the occasion included- Amarnath Gupta, Om Parkash Mahajan, Kailash Langar, Ram Saroop Gupta, Shiv Partap Gupta, Om Parkash Gupta ( gen secy), Amar Chand Gupta, I C Jandyal, Dr Ashok Gupta, Satish C Gupta, Yash Pal Gupta, CP Gupta and Dr Mohan Lal.
