JAMMU, Jan 28: Giving relief to the people of Ward No. 56, Gangyal from the problem of dirty water, Chairman Health Sanitation Committee, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Baldev Singh Billawaria kick started the construction of the deep drain on the main road of the area.
He, while addressing the gathering said that a deep drain was constructed in Gangyal Petrol Pump Street even at the time the then Congress Government, but there was no drainage of water from that drain because this drain was not connected with the drain made by the National Highway Authority of India as it was at a low level while that of NH was at high level. In such a situation people had to suffer and there were often traffic Jams.
He said this was the old demand of the people which is being fulfilled. Billawaria said that about Rs 25 lakh will be spent on this renewed drain and with its construction the main problem of the people will end. During the tenure of the erstwhile NC-Congress Governm-ent, money was wasted on the name of development and not a single act was done which would give relief to the people, he added.
He said that after the BJP coalition Government was formed, the work done by Jammu Municipal Corporation in the city now is not lacking in quality and these works will give relief to the people for decades together. He said spending money repeatedly on a single task is a waste of public money that used to take place during the Congress coalition Government. Though the present administration is delaying the work, the development work that is being executed completely meets all types of standards, he added.
He said that giving better development to the people is his priority and the BJP is working in the same direction. In the coming days people will get to see development work worth crores of rupees, he added.
Harbans Choudhary, Ranjeet Singh, Mulkh Raj, Jatinder Singh, Smit Sharma, Kawal Jeet Singh, Hardeep Singh, Om Nath, Mangal Singh, Pritam Sharma and Jugal Kishore were also present on the occasion.
