KATHUA, May 2: Billawar Police also arrested third accused who was involved in the murder of Liyaqat Ali, S/o Munir Hussein of Ther, Billawar whom he attacked yesterday along with other two assailants.
Police said a complaint was lodged by one Nishant Kouser, W/o Imran Hussein at Police Station Billawar at around 12 PM yesterday that her brother Liyaqat Ali S/o Munir Hussein R/o Ther (Billawar) has been stabbed with sharp edged weapon at village Dher by two persons namely Abhishek Sharma S/o Ramakant R/o Nowshera Mahanpur and Honey Khajuria, S/o Ram Parkash R/o Dher Billawar and fled away from the spot. Instantly case FIR No 49/18 U/s 307 RPC was registered and investigation started. The victim was shifted to GMC, Jammu where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, special teams were constituted to nab the culprits and after strenuous efforts, one of the police teams nabbed both the accused near Sukrala within hours of the incident along with car which had been used in the crime. Another accused identified as Pankaj Sharma S/o Mahant Ram, R/o Dher Phinter Billawar was also arrested today.
During preliminary enquiry it showed that there was personal rivalry between one Abid Hussain and accused Abhishek Sharma which turn into scuffle. Later Abhishek Sharma returned with another accused namely Honey Khajuria to attack Abid Hussain upon which Liyaqat Ali intervened and got stabbed in the incident and later succumbed.
Terming it a heinous case of murder police said all the three accused have been arrested and investigation taken up. It is not a case of hate crime as some mischievous elements are trying to give it a communal colour.
Meanwhile, the members of minority community held a demonstration at Billawar today demanding handing over of culprits to them. Shouting slogans against the Government and administration the protestors demanded that the culprits should not be spared at any cost.
They alleged that police has failed to give protection to the youth when he was attacked by assailants.
Later, the dead body was handed over to family members by the police for last rites.
The internet services in entire Kathua district were snapped by the authorities as some anti social elements were trying to exploit the situation to their advantage.
