LEH, Mar 22: The Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat, UT Ladakh today celebrated Bihar Foundation Day with great enthusiasm and cultural pride under the aegis of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative.
The celebration reflected the spirit of unity in diversity and highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Bihar.
The Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, conceptualised by the PM Narendra Modi, aims to strengthen national integration by fostering mutual understanding and cultural exchange among states and Union Territories.
As part of this initiative, Foundation Days of various states/UTs are celebrated across Lok Bhavans, Lok Niwas and other government establishments to promote awareness about the diverse cultural traditions of the country.
On the occasion, Secretary to the LG Shashanka Ala, warmly welcomed all personnel serving in Ladakh.
In her address, she shared her personal fondness for Bihar, stating that the state holds a special place in her heart.
Ala fondly recalled her probation period, mentioning that the food served in the hostel mess, particularly traditional Bihari cuisine, remains one of her favourites.
She emphasised that the celebration of Foundation Days is aligned with the mandate of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, which seeks to bring people closer through cultural appreciation and shared experiences.
The proceedings were conducted by Lt Col BK Dash, Security and Liaisoning Officer, who delivered a detailed presentation on Bihar’s illustrious history and vibrant culture.
He elaborated on Bihar’s profound spiritual significance as the land associated with the origins and spread of Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism.
The presentation further showcased Bihar’s rich artistic traditions, including the world-renowned Madhubani painting, its vibrant festivals such as Chhath Puja and its iconic cuisine, notably Litti Chokha, which collectively reflect the state’s cultural richness.
